Why Nurseries Are Being Kept Open

We know that a lot of parents are concerned that the Government has decided to keep nurseries open during this current lockdown. So we have decided to share with you some of the rationale behind this decision.

The Department for Education has stated that early years settings remain low risk environments for both children and staff. 0-5-year-olds continue to have the lowest confirmed rates of coronavirus of all age groups. Evidence also shows that pre-school children are less susceptible to infection and are not driving transmissions.

There is also continued evidence that children are much less susceptible to severe clinical disease compared with older people.

Finally, because the restrictions that are in place across the country contain the spread of the virus, early year childcare providers are able to remain open. Consequently, this allows us to support parents and carers by delivering the crucial care and education needed for the youngest children which allows parents and carers to continue working.

Please take a look at the key safety measures we have in place.
