What we’ve been up to…
Our baby room children have been showing a recent interest in role play. Alongside dressing up outfits and small world play, we have been reading stories detailing a variety of professions – our favourite has been ‘brown bear’ … ‘I see a teacher smiling back at me’.
Learning was then extended as each child chose their own ‘brown bear’ for a teddy bear picnic. Here we discussed what each of our brown bears could see and what our brown bears did as well as which foods at the picnic they enjoyed
Our Toddler Room and Pre-school
One of the children informed us of how they found ‘a big big spider with lots of legs’ at home which sparked the children’s curiosity and interest in other bugs and insects.
The creepy crawlies were a big hit with the children and they were intrigued to learn certain facts about bugs and where they live as well as what they like to eat. (We will be reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar to further this curiosity).
To extend learning further we are going to collect natural resources from the garden and local community to make a bug hotel – here the children will have a closer look at living insects and how they survive.
We have welcomed a few new starters recently, so we thought we’d introduce ourselves. For those of you that have been with us for a while, we thought that would be a useful reminder should you ever need to email one of us.
